Australian Daylily Robin guidelines
Australian Daylily Robin guidelines

Robin guidelines-
  • We do not have a strict set of rules 'per se', however we ask members to be courteous to each other.
  • Commercial advertising is not allowed according to Yahoogroups rules. If in doubt, ask. See Trading Post guidelines below.
  • Please do not post virus warnings or chain letters to the list. E-mail a moderator if you think there is something important enough to send.
  • Please limit attachments to a maximum of 300K per day for daylily images, or 100K if sending non-daylily images.
  • Please remember netiquette when posting to the robin. Details can be found here http://www.sofweb.vic.edu.au/internet/netiquet.htm#ten%20rules
  • The Australian Daylily Robin supports the registration of named cultivars. When posting daylily images, please name only registered cultivars. Seedlings should be identified as such and preferably be labelled by parentage. "Garden names" and unregistered cultivars are discouraged and should not be posted to the robin. The only exception to this is that you may let us know when you plan to register a daylily by sharing an image and/or information, as long as you clearly state that the plant will be registered as NAME.
  • Please note that all opinions expressed on the Australian Daylily Robin are those of the author only, and do not necessarily reflect the opinion of other members of the robin, the list owner or moderators.
If you are unsure about any matters, contact a list moderator.

To keep our robin safe and happy, we reserve the right to remove members from the list or to moderate their messages if the need arises.

Antivirus protection-

In order to minimise the risk of spreading email viruses, we urge all members of the robin to install and keep up to date anti-virus software. If you do not have any commercial antivirus software installed, you can download the free AVG antivirus program from http://free.grisoft.com/doc/5390/lng/us/tpl/v5#avg-anti-virus-free

Trading Post guidelines - Aussie Daylily Robin

Members are now able to post messages regarding sales, wants or trades direct to the Aussie Daylily Robin provided they meet the following criteria:

  1. Prices are not to be used on the robin. This includes any attachments to emails as well as the email text and images. [eg- Terms like “budget priced” and “cheap” are okay, however dollar (or other currency) values are not.]
  2. Make the subject of the email clear. [eg- “Wanted”, “Daylilies available” or “Trading Post” would all be fine.]
  3. Keep Trading Post messages separate to general chat.
  4. All Trading Post messages should contain the sender's first and last names. [Lee Smith is okay, L. Smith or Lee S. are not.]
  5. All Trading Post messages should contain the sender's contact email address.
  6. When replying to Trading Post messages, use the person's contact email address to email them directly. Do not send your message to the robin.
  7. The robin should not be used primarily for commercial purposes. Members should send Trading Post messages only occasionally. No number has been placed on this at this stage – all I ask is that people show restraint. [eg- It may be appropriate to send several messages in one month when you are digging and dividing en masse, however several messages every month to the robin would be inappropriate.]
  8. Remember normal robin daily limits apply to Trading Post messages. Please err on the side of caution if sending long lists of cultivars. One way that this can be done is to send as plain text within an email and not as an attachment.
Appropriate items for the Trading Post would be daylilies, any supplies needed for them and perhaps general garden items or other plants.

If you are unsure about anything, please ask.

A sample Trading Post notice may look something like this:
