Aussie Daylily Robin member profile - Carol Trego

Carol Trego, New Cumberland, Pennsylvania, U.S.A. Region 3, USDA Zone 6

Born in 1950, lived in the state of Pennsylvania, U.S.A. my entire life. Our weather goes below freezing during the winter months which range from December through March, of which times we can expect snow at any time. We've been known to get snow storms in November and April on rare occasions.

Our peak daylily bloom is around July 14 each summer. Bloom starts in early June and can go until September or later depending on the weather and if you have late season daylilies. Dormant daylilies grow well where I live, but so do hardy evergreen and semi-evergreen daylilies. I favor late blooming daylilies which extend the season and have collected quite a few. I have a few of my own seedlings, but haven't seen anything really special yet. It takes almost three years for a seedling to bloom here. Rebloom is very infrequent and can never be counted on and that is why I favor late bloomers which are more dependable.

I joined the Aussie Robin in December 2000. I enjoy hearing about life in Australia and learning from about daylilies from members.
