Homepage - Barossa Daylilies Born in Adelaide in 1968. Married to Linda in 1992, with 2 children, now residing in the Barossa Valley, South Australia. I have been gardening for as long as I can remember. My first memories of daylilies is having "Kwanzo" in our garden as a child. I remember purchasing a tan/yellow bicolour and a pink by mail order in the early 1980s and being a bit disappointed by them. I rediscovered daylilies in the mid to late 1990s when a backyard nursery near here stocked named varieties. In late 1999 I came across a daylily enthusiast at a Sunday market.. and visited the market every Sunday for weeks afterwards to see new varieties of these astounding flowers. Features of daylilies that I like - coloured eyes and edges, ruffles and hooks are great, but I take great satisfaction in cultivars that have a long bloom season or plenty of rebloom. I especially prefer clear colours. Besides daylilies, I am interested in watching Star Trek and collecting Star Trek toys, I like listening to Annie Lennox / Eurythmics music, computer stuff (eg making this site!) and general gardening (well, except weeding and digging). I also grow a number of alstroemeria cultivars, agapanthus and some unusual bulbs. My personal daylily site "Barossa Daylilies" can be found at http://www.users.on.net/~daylilies/ . |
